Problem: Frustration of seeing the same stereotypical “election” images in all the newspapers.
Solution: Create a weird, visually loaded images and let the BBC run it.

Sadly I had to take-down the exhibition at The Barbican this morning. The exhibition was a great success and also a fantastic platform to raise awareness of the issues covered in the project. Although the prints are back in the studio, web presence endures. An interview on undercover aspect of the project is covered on The Telegraph Online and also a fine review of the work in AnOther Magazine. Flavorwire ran an edited version of the image on their e-zine. Last but not least the work was featured as a must see exhibition in Le Cool. Which is well.. Cool! Many thanks to the 4 editors for helping bring Madagascar to a larger audience..

With the election in full swing it’s impossible to avoid stereotypical media coverage of politicians on the campaign trail.. But.. Sky News are hosting the second Election Debate tonight and to promote the event I was commissioned to produce the following images inspired by Mount Rushmore.. Garish – yes, retouched – no. The images were sent on the Getty News Wire last night and we’re hoping for some good page coverage..

Going well so far, quick note of thanks to The Guardian, Mirror and Express for publishing the images today… unfortunately I was not credited in print… it is disappointing to see that us photographers don’t get the credit/recognition we all deserve when our work is published, and this is an all-too-frequent issue. In this instance the images were available to editorial client for free to publish as handouts, so at least being credited properly would have been appreciated.

From Saturday 17th – Monday 27th April a selection of 44 images from the Madagascar project will be on show in The Barbican Mezzanine. The work is showing as part of the www.lidf.co.uk and is certainly one of the most prestigious venues in London! The work is on the Mezzanine Level, on the ground floor, close to the entrance to the curve gallery. I will be holding a PV on the 23rd of April, please be in contact if you would like to attend. Moonlit Scenes

The sub-zero temperatures in early March led to incredibly clear visibility at night with bright full and 3/4 moons. The first 5×4 of the project was shot across this incredible frozen energy reservoir in the shadow of Ben Lawers. With snow acting as a “battery” the days snow-melt is drained overnight to meet the peak energy demand in the early evening. As the shore appeared the central ice cracked then buckled loudly echoing off the moonlit slopes like thunder.

Mid-march saw central Scotland receive an unexpected drop of over 12 inches of snow. This time shooting into the moon reveals the tailrace of Sloy Dam leading to Loch Lomond. Accelerating through a series of underground tunnels the combination of fall height and volume enables water to turn 4 massive turbines at 20% load throughout the day.
